Helen loves the outdoors. She travels, climbs mountains and is always happy when running or walking forested trails. She has a great respect for athletes, both human and canine. In the 1980’s she began a foray into visual art which began with black and white photography, primarily of the human figure. Narrative poetry became a daily habit. Following her group shows and solo exhibitions of photography and some public readings of her poetry, she published a book of her photographs and another of her poetry. In 2004, she ventured into painting, at first choosing watercolors and acrylics as her favored media. During the past five years she has explored the media of printmaking, collage, and hand-made books. She lives in the Central Coast region of California, in an environment where the forest meets the constantly changing but always beautiful Pacific Ocean.
